I am a former art student who delights in colour! I completed a BA (Hons) in ceramics at Wolverhampton Poly in 1987. I loved colour then and it's been the theme throughout all my creative endeavours since.
My first venture was hand painted silk items of clothing, which had colourful, bold designs on them.
This morphed (as these things do) into a range of colourful characters I printed onto mugs and T-shirts. With the financial backing of the Prince's Youth Business Trust, my business bloomed into a licencing company with my designs available on socks, greetings cards, glass wear, keyrings etc in many high street stores.
I left the commercial world to start a family and, as a hobby I created a visual family tree by painting, sketching, knitting and embroidering members of my family. I struggled to make my son Oscar's face interesting. He was only 11 and didn't have any strong contours yet. I decided to break up his features with geometric planes to focus on his eyes and mouth. You can see him on my gallery. He's the boy with the huge eyes.
I received many positive responses and started displaying my portraits in local galleries. When commissions started rolling in, I decided to launch Facet Painting, Ta dah!
I now find I can't wait to get up and paint, I've found my happy place!
And guess what? it's full of colour!
